Computer and Internet Acceptable Use Policy
The purpose of accessing the Internet is to support research and education in and among academic institutions and other pertinent sources. Use must be in support of education and research and consistent with the educational objectives of Wallkill Valley Regional High School.
Terms and Conditions of Use
• All use of the Internet must be in support of education and research and consistent with the purposes of Wallkill Valley Regional High School.
• Use of other organization’s network or computing resources must comply with the rules appropriate for that network.
• Transmission of any material in violation of any federal or state regulation is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, transmission of copyrighted material, threatening or obscene material, or material protected by trade secret.
• Use of the network for commercial or for- profit purposes is prohibited.
• Use of the network for personal and private business is prohibited.
• Use of the network for product advertisement or political lobbying is prohibited.
• Network accounts are to be used only by the authorized owner of the account for the authorized purpose.
• Assuming any fictitious or anonymous identity is prohibited in any activity that uses Wallkill Valley Regional High School’s technology resources.
• Users shall not intentionally seek information on, obtain copies of, or modify files, other data, or passwords belonging to other users, or misrepresent other users on the network.
• All communications and information accessible via the network should be assumed to be private property. Wallkill Valley Regional High School reserves the right to read or remove any files on the network without prior notice to system users.
• No use of the network such as developing programs that harass others, infiltrating a computer or computing system, or damaging the software components of a computer or computing system is prohibited.
• Vandalizing or tampering any Wallkill Valley Regional High School technology equipment is prohibited.
• Hate mail, harassment, discriminatory remarks, and other antisocial behaviors in any electronic communication are prohibited on the network.
• The Illegal installation of copyrighted software for use in district computers is prohibited.
• Use of the network to access or process pornographic material, inappropriate text files, or files dangerous to the integrity of the local area network is prohibited.
• Personal information regarding the users may not be provided across the Internet.
